Odessa is de-energized
Today in the Odessa region there was a technological accident at one of the high-voltage substations, repeatedly damaged as a result of Russian attacks.
Odessa was left without electricity due to a complex technological accident. Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal at an extraordinary meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers instructed to bring to Odessa all the powerful generators available in the Ministry of Energy, and instructed the Foreign Ministry to apply to Turkey for additional support in the form of power ships. Denis Shmyhal announced this on the official TG channel.
“Today, a technological accident occurred in the Odessa region at one of the high-voltage substations, repeatedly damaged as a result of Russian attacks. Emergency shutdowns were applied in Odessa and nearby areas. The situation is complex, the scale of the accident is significant, it is impossible to quickly restore power supply – in particular, to critical infrastructure extraordinary meeting of the government instructed to create a round-the-clock government headquarters headed by the Minister of Energy, with the participation of the Acting Minister of the Interior, the heads of the State Emergency Service and the Regional Military Administration, the head of Ukrenergo, representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure and other ministries and departments,” the prime minister said.
Shmygal noted that he instructed to bring to Odessa all the powerful generators that are available in the Ministry of Energy within 24 hours.
“Also, a gas turbine power plant with a capacity of 25 MW, provided by our partners from the United States, should also be transported to the city. I also gave the task to the Foreign Ministry to apply to Turkey for additional support in the form of power ships. All “points of indestructibility” should work around the clock in Odessa. To coordinate work in The Minister of Energy and the head of Ukrenergo left the city,” the head of government added.
