Electricity was cut off throughout Odessa. The entire city and part of the Odessa region are de-energized due to an accident at the Ukrenergo substation, the energy company DTEK said.
The organization added that this is the second large-scale accident at the substation over the past day. Eyewitnesses reported on social networks that they saw smoke from a fire – presumably at one of the substations near Odessa.
The head of the Odessa Regional Military Administration, Maxim Marchenko, noted that emergency power outages are occurring in the region. According to him, the main facilities of critical civilian infrastructure are being connected to electricity.
On Saturday morning, an air alert was announced throughout Ukraine. Belarusian activists said that an early warning and control aircraft took off from the Machulishche airfield. There were no reports of strikes.
