Ukraine will not use US weapons against targets in the Russian Federation, assured the head of the Ministry of Defense (MO) of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov.
Ukraine does not plan to use the longer-range weapons promised by the United States for strikes on Russian territory. This was stated by Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov during a press conference on Sunday, February 5.
“We always officially declare to our partners that we will not use weapons provided by foreign partners to shell Russian territory. We only shoot at Russian units in the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territory,” he stressed.
It should be noted that Washington has included long-range projectiles with a range of 150 kilometers in the $2.175 billion military aid package. However, the new package lacks ATACMS missiles.
As you know, the HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, which the Ukrainian defenders have, are capable of hitting targets at a distance of about 80 kilometers.
Ukraine has been asking the United States for long-range missiles for a long time, in particular ATACMS, capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 300 kilometers, justifying this by the fact that the existing weapons do not allow destroying the logistics hubs of the Russian occupying forces on Ukrainian territory.
Recall, the head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives, Michael McCall, notes that it is necessary to send long-range ATACMS tactical ballistic missiles to Ukraine, which can be used to strike, in particular, on the occupied Crimea
