Restrictions against a number of Russian companies from the nuclear industry are introduced for a period of 50 years.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday, February 5, approved the decision of the National Security and Defense Council to impose sanctions against Russia’s nuclear industry. This is evidenced by the relevant decree of the head of state.
The restrictions will affect the following Russian institutions:
- Rosatom;
- Joint-Stock Company Nuclear Power Industry Complex;
- Joint Stock Company Rosatom Automated Control Systems;
- limited liability companies Rusatom Digital solutions;
- limited liability companies RIAR-Generation;
- autonomous non-profit organization Corporate Academy of the State Corporation Rosatom;
- joint-stock company Rusatom Healthcare;
The following sanctions will be imposed on a number of Russian companies for 50 years: blocking of assets, restriction of trade operations, termination of the transit of resources through the territory of Ukraine, cancellation of all licenses, prohibition of participation in the privatization or lease of state property.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on this step of Ukraine in his evening address.
“Today there is another sanction step by our state against a terrorist state. The decision of the National Security and Defense Council on sanctions against the Russian nuclear industry has been put into effect. And this is not the last decision in this industry,” the president stressed.
Recall that the tenth package of EU sanctions against Russia provides for various restrictions against the Russian Federation for a total of 10 billion euros.
We add that Zelensky previously voiced his expectations that the 10th package of EU sanctions against Russia would limit the ability of the aggressor country to produce missiles, as well as affect its nuclear industry and energy.
