Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov is being transferred to the post of Minister for Strategic Industries to strengthen military-industrial cooperation; instead, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine will be headed by Major General Kirill Budanov, head of the country’s Main Intelligence Directorate. This was announced by the chairman of the Servant of the People faction David Arakhamia in his telegram channel.
“The war dictates personnel policy. Time and circumstances require strengthening and regrouping. This is happening now and will happen in the future,” he said.
According to Arakhamia, Reznikov is being transferred to the position of Minister for Strategic Industries “to strengthen military-industrial cooperation, which is “absolutely logical, given his expertise on Rammstein and the need to ‘elevate’ the ministry, which should do more.” the post of head of the Ministry of Defense Budanov, as Arakhamia notes, “is absolutely logical for wartime.” The deputy also said that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine will be headed by Igor Klymenko, and the Security Service of Ukraine – by Vasily Malyuk.
Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov, in turn, said that “this is news” for him.
“I can comment that this is news to me. No conversation about the Ministry for Strategic Industry happened with the President of Ukraine, the Supreme Commander,” he said.
Reznikov stressed that if he had received such an offer, he would have refused the new position. “If suddenly I received such an offer from the President of Ukraine or the Prime Minister, then I would refuse it, because I do not have the expertise that would allow me to qualitatively be the Minister of the Ministry for Strategic Industries. Therefore, I think that this mistake,” Reznikov said.
