The number of destroyed buildings in Turkey reached 5775. At the same time, a powerful fire in the port of Iskenderun was extinguished.
In Turkey, a series of devastating earthquakes killed 4,544 people and injured 26,721 others. This was reported on Tuesday, February 7 by Gazete Duvar, citing data from the Office for the Prevention and Elimination of Consequences of Emergencies under the Government of Turkey (AFAD).
It is indicated that the number of destroyed buildings in Turkey has reached 5775. At the same time, it was possible to extinguish a powerful fire in the port of Iskenderun, which blazed for more than a day. The fire was controlled with the help of military helicopters and planes.
In addition, the death toll in neighboring Syria has risen to 1,782 and the number of injured to 3,749.
Recall that on February 6, two powerful earthquakes occurred in the southeast of Turkey: in the Pazardzhik region of Kahramanmarash province – a magnitude of 7.7 and in the Elbistan region of the same province – 7.6 on the Richter scale. Hundreds of aftershocks have also been recorded.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has declared a state of emergency for three months in 10 provinces of the country affected by the earthquakes.
Earlier it was reported about 3703 dead and 22286 injured as a result of the earthquake in Turkey.
