
Rescue work continues in Turkey
More than 37,000 residents of the country were injured. Search and rescue operations continue in the provinces affected by the disaster.
As a result of a powerful earthquake in Turkey, 6,234 people were killed and another 37,011 were injured. This was reported on February 8 by the Anadolu Agency, citing data from the Emergency Management Agency (AFAD).
It is noted that the tremors led to casualties and destruction in the provinces of Kahramanmarash, Gaziantep, Sanliurfa, Diyarbakir, Adana, Adiyaman, Osmaniye, Hatay, Kilis, Malatya and Elazig.
79,110 people are involved in search and rescue operations.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has declared seven days of national mourning for the victims of the natural disaster. State flags are flown at half mast throughout Turkey.
Recall that on February 6, two powerful earthquakes occurred in the southeast of Turkey. Due to the elements, neighboring Syria also suffered greatly.
