After ten days of stoppage and a lot of pressure, teachers from Fortaleza won the salary increase of 14.97%. The proposal was finalized by the City Hall of Fortaleza this Wednesday morning (08), and approved at the general meeting of the Unified Union of Education Workers of Ceará (Sindiute), held in front of the City Hall.
According to the union, the increase will be applied in installments, with 5.79% in January and another 9.16% in September, in the latter case without retroactive effect. It was also deliberated to end the strike for the category, return to school starting tomorrow (9th), and that there will be no change in the Jobs, Careers and Salaries Plan (PCCS).
In full agreement with the management, the union will also negotiate the payment of the stoppages and all educators, including new candidates and substitutes, will enter the payroll until 02/10. In the end, the Sindiute approved that on March 8 there will be a new National Strike and a new Assembly to evaluate the movement.
On the official page of Sindiute, the president of the union, Ana Cristina Guilherme celebrated the achievement. “I want to bring recognition to every category. Of all the fights I’ve directed, that I’ve participated in, that I’ve lived with, this one was the most important. From beginning to end unity, responsibility. All schools stopped in that feeling that it has to be fast and strong and the knowledge and political advancement of the category. We entered this movement with zero, we are leaving this movement with our PCCS, with our salary floor this year, with the replacement of the paralyzed days and with the guarantee of new, substitute and permanent teachers on this month’s payroll. So this is very important. The fight will continue and on March 8th we are because we want our retroactive. Together we are strong.”
The mayor of Fortaleza, José Sarto also manifested himself in his networks. “Yesterday we announced to municipal public servants a general salary adjustment of 5.79% and an increase in the amount of food aid to R$15. .95%, without retroactivity. In addition, we ensure that the Positions, Careers and Salaries Plan (PCCS) will be preserved. Fortaleza’s Secretary of Education, Dalila Saldanha, will negotiate, with the teachers, how classes will be replaced at the beginning of the 2023 school year”.
Municipalities that have already approved the salary increase for teachers
According to the latest survey by the Federation of Workers in the Municipal Public Service of the State of Ceará (Fetamce) on the salary adjustment for teachers in 2023, 104 cities in Ceará have already announced an increase in teachers’ salaries. Of these, Jardim and Fortaleza were the last to be included.
Fetamce informs that salary growth for basic education professionals is one of the main guidelines of the Salary Campaign 2023 in the branch of municipal servants, when unions affiliated to Fetamce throughout the state take the demands of the category to the negotiation tables with city halls.
