Samantha is seeking $75,000 in damages for her relative’s comments and is seeking a jury trial.
Meghan Markle’s half-sister Samantha Markle has filed a libel suit “based on knowingly false and malicious statements made to a global audience.” ET reports.
Allegations by a relative of the Duchess of Sussex made during an interview she and Prince Harry gave in 2021 to Oprah Winfrey. The woman also claims that her sister spread “false and malicious claims” about her in her book In Search of Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of the Modern Royal Family in 2020.
Samantha also claims that Prince Harry’s wife orchestrated an entire information campaign to destroy her reputation and the authority of their father Thomas in order to promote her false image “from rags to riches”.
She further denies Meghan Markle’s claims that they spent a lot of time together in their youth and that Samantha was kicked out of high school. The half-sister also denies the claim that she changed her last name to Markle after news broke in 2018 that Meghan and Prince Harry were dating.
It was previously reported that writer Joanna Weiss published an article in which Meghan Markle “received the title of ‘narcissus'”.
