The number of deaths in Rio de Janeiro caused by heavy rains last Tuesday (5) that hit the capital, municipalities in the metropolitan region and Saquarema, in the Lagos Region, rose to five. In some regions of Rio, it rained in the four hours expected for the entire month of February.

According to the Subprefecture of the South Zone, in the capital, José Diniz, 82 years old, was taken to the hospital but did not resist. A 60-year-old woman was also in the house, in the community of Tavares Bastos, in Catete. The Civil Defense closed off the site.
A two-year-old child died after being buried after a landslide in Alto da Boa Vista, in Tijuca, in the north zone. She was found by firefighters in the rubble. Earlier, the first victim of the storm was a 26-year-old. He died struck by lightning in Saquarema, in the Lagos Region.

In São Gonçalo, in the metropolitan region, the body of a man was found this Wednesday (8) in a ditch in the Neves neighborhood. In the same neighborhood, in Morro da Coruja, a 22-year-old girl, identified as Gizelle Martins, died after the collapse of the house she was in.
