The American journalist, winner of the Pulitzer Prize, Seymour Hersh, published last Wednesday (8) an article stating that the explosions on the Nord Stream gas pipeline, in September 2022, were carried out by the USA with the help of NATO allies (Treaty Organization of the North Atlantic). According to the publication, US Navy divers planted explosives during exercises carried out by the Alliance in June 2022 and Norwegians would have activated them three months later.
Also according to Hersh’s article, which cites only an anonymous source, the plan to explode the Nord Stream gas pipeline that connects Russia to Germany, would have been discussed at the White House for nine months with the participation of President Joe Biden and the Security Advisor National, Jake Sullivan. The US administration called the Hersh investigation “pure fiction”.

The Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 incident took place on September 26, when a gas leak was discovered at four Russian export pipeline sites located at the bottom of the Baltic Sea. Sweden, Denmark and Germany are conducting investigations. In November 2022, the Swedish prosecution concluded that the pipeline leak was the result of serious sabotage. This confirmed suspicions that the explosions were deliberately caused by explosive charges, but the suspects have yet to be identified. German investigators are also looking into the circumstances of the incident, with no results yet.
The Kremlin has classified the incident as an act of international terrorism. Commenting on the publication of the article, Russia noted that journalist Seymour Hersh’s investigation of the Nord Stream was not widely publicized in the West: “This cannot but surprise us,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Serguei Ryabkov said the publication of Hersh’s article “cannot fail to lead to consequences for Washington.” According to the vice-chancellor, the report confirmed the conclusion that Moscow had previously reached.
The head of the State Duma (lower house of the Russian parliament), Vyacheslav Volodin, in turn, was more blunt and declared on his Telegram channel that US President Joe Biden “is going down in history as a terrorist”.
