The defense of the governor removed from the Federal District, Ibaneis Rocha (MDB), requested, this Thursday (9), the Federal Supreme Court (STF), to revoke the precautionary measure that removed him from office shortly after the crimes of the 8 of January, at the headquarters of the Three Powers, in Brasília.
The defense, represented by lawyers Alberto Toron and Cleber Lopes de Oliveira, argues that the investigations indicated that Ibaneis Rocha “did not participate, omissively or commissively”, in the criminal acts committed by Bolsonaristas.

The lawyers also stated that the governor “acted concretely, before the day of the facts, to demobilize the camps that were in front of the barracks” and that on January 8 “he based his conduct on the reports received from subordinates with specific attribution on public safety”. According to them, “as soon as it became aware that criminal acts were taking place in Praça dos Três Poderes, (Ibaneis) adopted energetic measures to contain the vandalism and arrest those responsible”.
Lula transfers Abin to Civil House
The government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) decided to transfer the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin) to the Civil House. The information was provided by the newspaper The globe and confirmed by the minister of the portfolio, Rui Costa, when G1. Abin’s command should stay with delegate Luiz Fernando Corrêa, former director general of the PF.
The objective of the change is to demilitarize Abin, since the GSI has a significant number of military personnel and was ideologically very close to Jair Bolsonaro and the former minister, General Augusto Heleno. In January alone, the Lula government exonerated about 70 military personnel who were appointed to the GSI during the administration of Jair Bolsonaro.

The steps towards the reformulation of the GSI intensified shortly after the criminal acts committed by Bolsonaristas, on January 8, at the headquarters of the Three Powers, in Brasília. At the time, the GSI was the target of criticism, as it plays an important role in the Presidency’s dependencies.

Tarcísio overturns bill on menstrual poverty
The governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), completely vetoed a bill approved by the state Legislative Assembly on menstrual poverty, last Tuesday (7). The proposal aimed to facilitate access to sanitary napkins for people in situations of social vulnerability in the state.
Access would be guaranteed for “students from the state education network, adolescents who have committed infractions, detainees, women and adolescents sheltered in units and shelters under state management, in a vulnerable situation, and also those on the streets, or family situations of extreme poverty”.
