A Chinese aircraft was shot down in the US last week.
So far, the military has not determined whether the object was simply a “balloon” that flew at a potentially threatening height for civilian aircraft.

Kirby said that Biden ordered the shooting down of an unidentified object near Alaska “out of great caution.” According to him, the government does not know who owns the object and who sent it.
The balloon sank over the Arctic Ocean near the northeastern border of Alaska and Canada. The object flew over the land of Alaska, after which it was shot down by a fighter.
Kirby stressed that the pilots confirmed the object was unmanned before shooting it down.
A US official said there were “no confirmed signs of a military threat” to people on the ground from the facility.
Recall that on February 4, the US military shot down a Chinese balloon that had been flying over US territory for almost a week. They said the machine was gathering intelligence.
