Russia takes Ukrainian children to its territory
We are talking about deported Ukrainian children who were forcibly or fraudulently taken out of their homeland.
Russia is holding at least 6,000 Ukrainian children in camps where they are “politically re-educated”. On Tuesday, February 14, according to a report by researchers from Yale University, writes The Guardian.
Experts write that there are at least 43 camps where such children are kept. They are located in the temporarily occupied Crimea and Russia.
Among the children there are those who had parents or guardians, as well as those whom Russia has declared orphans.
According to the report, the youngest child found was only four months old, and in some camps, children as young as 14 received military training.
Researchers report that some children were adopted by Russian families or were transferred to the care of families in the Russian Federation.
“This is a clear violation of the 4th Geneva Convention,” – said one of the researchers Nathaniel Raymond.
He noted that the Russian Federation thus commits genocide in Ukraine, since the transfer of children in order to change or eliminate national identity can be a compound act of the crime of genocide.
Earlier it was reported that the Secretary General of the European Ombudsman Institute (EIO) illegally took two Ukrainian children from Austria to Russia.
