The building of the Rio de Janeiro Bar Association (OAB-RJ), located in the center of Rio, was evacuated at the end of the morning of this Wednesday (15) due to a bomb threat.
The president of the OAB-RJ, Luciano Bandeira, informed the portal G1 who requested the immediate evacuation of the building and called the Bomb Squad of the Civil Police. “All the locations have security cameras and the images were given to the police. We don’t know why,” said Bandeira.

The emptying happened after the building’s cleaners found letters in the bathroom on the 7th floor informing about the presence of the artifact. The papers ordered, in capital letters, to empty the sectional building “immediately”. “A bomb was installed in the headquarters building (of) OAB and is scheduled to explode on this day 15.2.2023”, read a notice, according to the portal. “The effects will be catastrophic and this act will start a series of attacks on various bodies as a way to end this idiotic policy of exclusion, nepotism, personal advantages, expensive annuities, absurd vanity, cheap reactionaryism of a hypocritical bourgeoisie that only cares about with the indication by the fifth constitutional”, stated another note also according to the portal.
On the same floor where the notices were left, a meeting about disciplinary procedures imposed on lawyers was taking place, with more than 60 people. At the same time, on the 4th floor, a ceremony was taking place for the handover of new lawyers, with the presence of more than 150 people.
After being informed of the warnings, the president of the Prerogatives Commission of the OAB-RJ, Marcello Oliveira, reported the fact to the members of the group Alberico de Brito Montenegro Neto and Mary Anne Ramalho Montenegro, who filed a police report.
Military police act in support of the Civil Police and intensified policing on site. The activities at the entity’s headquarters were suspended around 12:00 and were not resumed until the early afternoon of this Wednesday (15).
