The Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Kassio Nunes Marques, criticized the “large-scale arrests” ordered by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, which he considered “worrying”.
“At this procedural moment, it seems to me, the large-scale arrests, carried out indiscriminately, due to the facts that occurred on 01/08/2023, investigated in Inquiry No. lead me to set out, right away, some reservations that I consider necessary”, said the minister.
The demonstration was made during his vote against the habeas corpus of a person involved in the coup act on January 8, when Bolsonarists invaded and vandalized the headquarters of the Three Powers, in Brasília.
The minister argued that it is necessary to individualize the penalties against criminals. “On the other hand, arrests in the act and the eventual conversion into preventive arrests or precautionary measures other than prison necessarily require the precise identification of those responsible for the criminal offenses that occurred on 01/08/2023 and the individualization of their respective conduct , in order to characterize the the smoke of the offense committedin addition to demonstrating the specific requirements for granting precautionary custody”, argued the minister.
“I reiterate, (…), my total and vehement repudiation of acts of vandalism against public property, as well as of disrespect and affront to the constituted powers, carried out by numerous participants of the movement that took place in Praça dos Três Poderes on 01/08/2023 “, he wrote.
Ratinho Jr. houses bolsonaristas in his government
The re-elected governor of Paraná, Ratinho Junior (PSD), appointed Ricardo Barros (PP) and Fernando Francischini (União Brasil) to head the State Secretariat for Industry, Commerce and Services and a commissioned position at the State Secretariat for Justice and Citizenship , respectively.
Leader of the Bolsonaro government in the Chamber of Deputies, Ricardo Barros was re-elected last year, but chose not to assume the new term. Former federal deputy Fernando Francischini was the first parliamentarian impeached by the TSE for spreading false information about the electoral process.
Both were the basis of the re-election campaign of Ratinho Jr., who, in turn, was one of the main allies of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

In addition to the 8th of January, the parliamentarians also investigate the acts of vandalism registered on the 12th of January, in Brasilia, in the surroundings of the headquarters of the Federal Police.
Moraes claims that PL paid a fine of almost R$ 23 million
The also president of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), Alexandre de Moraes, said that the Liberal Party (PL) paid the fine of BRL 22,991,544.60, which was assigned to Jair Bolsonaro’s acronym for “litigation in bad faith ” when questioning the outcome of the 2022 elections.
“According to the calculations presented by the technical unit, the amounts transferred to the specific account are already sufficient to fully pay the fine imposed”, wrote Alexandre de Moraes in his statement.
The fine was settled based on the blockade of BRL 13,599,298.26, carried out on November 23 of last year, the suspension of transfers of funds from the Party Fund between November of last year and January of this year and the transfer of BRL 9,858,370.60 on December 14, 2022.
