For Auchan, Russia is the second most important sales market after France
In just one year, Auchan paid $167 million to the Russian budget. This is equal to the cost of 222 Caliber rockets, which the aggressor country fires at Ukraine.
The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) has included the French corporation Auchan (Auchan) in the list of international sponsors of the war. This was reported on the website of the department on Thursday, February 23.
“The reason for being included in the list of international sponsors of the war was that during the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the company refused to stop financing the terrorist state and did not close its business in Russia,” the NAPC said.
They recalled that thanks to journalistic investigations by The Insider, Le Monde and Bellingcat, it became known that since the beginning of the war, the Russian subsidiary of the French Auchan had been supplying goods to the Russian military in the occupied territories of Ukraine under the guise of humanitarian aid, and also helped with the implementation of mobilization measures in the Russian Federation.
“For Auchan, Russia is the second most important sales market after France. In 2020 alone, the Russian Auchan paid $167 million to the Russian budget. According to journalists, this is equal to the cost of 15 Su-25 aircraft, 42 tanks, 222 Caliber missiles or 477,000 machine guns AK-74. We cannot allow Russia to continue to receive these funds, for which they then kill Ukrainians. We want any company to be ashamed of collaborating with the killers. The institution of reputation must work, therefore we have included Auchan in the list of international sponsors of the war, ” – said the head of the NAPC Alexander Novikov.
Earlier, Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that Auchan has become a “full-fledged weapon of Russian aggression.” He intends to discuss this with the head of the French Foreign Ministry.
At the same time, Auchan denies all the facts given in the media investigation. The company’s administration claims that it provides assistance “only to the civilian population.”
