Ukraine is trying to improve relations with China, but communication is very difficult – MFA
Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, official Chinese authorities have repeatedly advocated early negotiations and a peaceful solution to the conflict.
Kyiv is trying to improve relations with Beijing, but communication between the authorities at the moment “remains difficult.” This was announced on Wednesday, February 22, in an interview with Ukrainska Pravda by Deputy Foreign Minister Andriy Melnyk.
“We are trying to improve the position of official Beijing regarding Russian aggression… Unfortunately, communication has been and remains very difficult at the highest level – at the leadership level,” Melnik said.
He noted that the country’s diplomatic service aims to “find the key to this extremely important state for us so that its position is more favorable than it is today. So that it is not only this neutrality.”
“We do not lose hope of reaching both the mind and the hearts of the Chinese leadership in order to rule out any alliance with Putin’s Russia,” the diplomat added.
It should be noted that on the eve of China said it was ready to cooperate with other countries to achieve an early ceasefire and lasting peace in Ukraine.
Earlier, US media said, citing local officials, that China is considering providing military assistance to Russia.
In turn, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken warned China against supplying weapons to Russia.
