The crimes of the aggressor country will be dealt with by an international special tribunal
Now everything is being done to bring those responsible for Russia’s military and other international crimes, Prosecutor General Andrei Kostin assured.
A large-scale international conference United for Justice is scheduled to take place in Ukraine in March. This was announced by Prosecutor General Andrey Kostin on Thursday, February 23.
“We are working further on uniting our allies in a systemic format, which can be called “legal Ramstein”. A large-scale international conference United for Justice is scheduled for March. It will be held in Ukraine at the initiative of the Office of the Prosecutor General,” he said.
According to Kostin, Ukraine today is at the forefront of strengthening the global legal order system.
He stressed that everything is now being done to bring those responsible for Russia’s military and other international crimes to justice both in national courts and at the international level.
“However, there are those who, due to the limitation of existing legal mechanisms, cannot yet be brought before the courts – these are the president, the head of government and the minister of foreign affairs of the aggressor state. Only a special international tribunal can condemn them,” the prosecutor general said.
According to him, the determination of Ukraine’s partners to create a tribunal has increased after the UN General Assembly and massive rocket attacks since October last year. Currently, negotiations are underway on the legal composition of the special tribunal.
Recall, on February 2, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced that an international center to investigate the crime of aggression of the Russian Federation would be created in The Hague. This court will begin work in July this year.
Earlier, Western partner countries supported the creation of an international tribunal for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
