What is PMC Redan?
The PMC Redan has nothing to do with paramilitaries, it is a teenage subculture that originated on social media and is inspired by the anime series Hunter x Hunter, which has a gang called Redan.
At the end of February in Russia, law enforcement officers began raiding gatherings of informal teenagers calling themselves Redan PMCs in shopping centers in Moscow, St. Petersburg and other large Russian cities. The raids began on February 24 after several mass brawls that took place in shopping centers. Detentions took place in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kursk, Novosibirsk and Kazan. In Kharkov, teenagers also tried to arrange a mass brawl as part of the actions of PMC Redan. What is this new movement?
Teenage subculture
The Redan PMC has nothing to do with paramilitaries, but is a teenage subculture that originated on social media and is inspired by the anime series Hunter x Hunter, which features a gang called the Ryodan. Redan’s symbols are black, spiders and the number 4. At the same time, there are several other communities on social networks that are directed against Redan, and because of these disagreements, fights happen among teenagers.
For the first time, the new “movement” attracted media attention on February 22 after a brawl in the Aviapark shopping center in Moscow. Telegram channels then wrote that representatives of Redan had a fight with other teenagers because some did not like how others were dressed. As a result, the fight became massive and affected several floors of the shopping center.
Another major brawl occurred on February 26 in St. Petersburg in the Gallery shopping center. There, too, a brawl broke out due to the fact that some teenagers demanded “to explain about the gear”; it was also in Redan. The police and riot police had to break up the mass brawl.
After this incident, the Russian police began checking malls and raiding gatherings of teenagers in other large Russian cities – the police are looking for people in clothes with spiders as potential troublemakers.
Internet ban
The head of the ICR Alexander Bastrykin and the head of the Safe Internet League Ekaterina Mizulina, who lobbies bans and restrictions for Russians on the Internet, have already reacted to the news about police raids. Bastrykin instructed to check the facts of many videos on social networks with fights between Redanites and their opponents. And Mizulina said that Redan is a destructive subculture and demanded to ban the movement and its communities on the Internet.
Got to Ukraine
Law enforcers report that at about 2:00 pm on Monday, February 27, a group of people gathered on Constitution Square to commit a mass brawl in order to support a flash mob launched in the Russian Federation.
The head of the Kharkiv Region Police Investigation Department, Serhiy Bolvinov, said that the police had identified 245 people, of which 30 were adults. There are 149 boys among minors and 66 girls.
The Investigation Department registered cases on the facts of preparation for mass riots and the involvement of minors in criminal activities. The sanction of the article is from 5 to 8 years in prison.
Volodymyr Timoshko, head of the GDNP in the Kharkiv region, said that preventive conversations would be held with parents: “I appeal to all adults. evil. The war continues not only on the battlefield. The enemy wants to destroy our country and uses our children with you to achieve their bloodthirsty goals. Only together can we stop this.”

In the past few days, a video appeared on Ukrainian social networks with clashes between teenagers in other cities of Ukraine.
In particular, teenagers fought in Ivano-Frankivsk, and in Kyiv the fight was prevented.
