State deputy Leonel Radde (PT-RS) considers that the process of unrestricted outsourcing of labor may be a factor that favors the emergence of cases of work analogous to slavery, such as the one recently discovered in Rio Grande do Sul.
He spoke with the Brazil in fact on the content of the note from the Center for Industry and Services of Bento Gonçalves, after the release of the rescue of 200 workers subjected to degrading situations in the Serra Gaúcha wineries.
In the text, the entity tries to defend the companies and says that the problem occurs “due to lack of manpower”. He also blames “a welfare system that has nothing to do with health” for the occurrence of slave labor.
::Slave labor in RS: ‘They expected me to keep watch and hand over names’::
For the deputy, it is clear that there is a relationship between this case and the recent precariousness of labor laws in the country
“It is typical of the thinking of this business community that considers that it has the right to exploit the workforce at the maximum level. This has a direct relationship with the disruption of labor rights. Unrestricted outsourcing strengthened this logic of people hired to hire third parties”, he analyzed .
Regarding the content of the note, he analyzed that the text corresponds to a predominant thought in Serra Gaúcha, where Bolsonarism was well voted in the presidential elections. According to the congressman, far-right ideas are strongly supported by representatives of the region in the state parliament.
“88% of cases of slave labor in Rio Grande do Sul come from the Serra. There is fascistization and we need to de-fascistize Serra Gaúcha. Because it is not possible for 88% of cases to be concentrated in the region and not have a correlation with local politics “, said.
The deputy’s statements were aired on the program Central do Brasil this Wednesday (1st). He reported the situation in which the workers were submitted by the companies and how the rescue took place.
::Public bodies guarantee that 206 workers rescued from wineries will receive severance pay::
Radde also talks about initiatives by the state legislature to investigate allegations that military police officers participated in and covered up cases of torture against workers in situations analogous to slavery. The complaint is also being investigated by the Internal Affairs of the Military Brigade of Rio Grande do Sul.
