Usyk can fight not with Fury, but with another British boxer
The functionary believes that the Ukrainian boxer will have to carry out a mandatory defense of the WBA belt.
Frank Warren, co-promoter of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, shared his opinion about the possible failure of his ward’s title fight with WBO, WBA and IBF title holder Alexander Usyk.
According to an authoritative functionary, the Ukrainian boxer will fight with Daniel Dubois if he does not have a fight with Fury.
“I spoke with Dubois a couple of days ago. He is doing well and is back in training. With Tyson Fury and Joe Joyce coming up, we don’t seem to have a date for Daniel until mid or late May. It all depends on what happens with Usyk-Fury fight If we can’t arrange it on April 29, then Dubois will fight Alexander.
Negotiations about the fight with Usyk turned out to be very protracted, and this is disappointing. There are still a couple of issues that need to be addressed. If the fight takes place, it will happen on April 29th. But we have to wait and then we’ll see. Tyson will fight that day and I hope we don’t have to go down the path of finding another opponent for him,” Warren Express quoted him as saying.
Previously, a well-known promoter said that he did not believe in holding a fight between Usyk and Fury.
