The national secretary for the promotion and defense of the rights of LGBTQIA+ people, from the Ministry of Human Rights, Symmy Larrat, stated that the most urgent issues for trans women and transvestites in the mobilizations of the Eight of March are the accreditation of trans clinics, the review of RG information and criminalization of transphobia.
She listed these priorities in an interview with the Central do Brasil program this Monday (03). Since the beginning of the month, the program has focused on themes related to the reality of Brazilian women, due to the mobilizations of International Women’s Day throughout the country.
“These are emergency actions. But the erasure was so great, that there is a lot that we need to do. We highlight these three, but recognize that there is a lot of urgency in the process, that we will have to look into the next period” , pointed.

Symmy also commented on the situation of the Ministry of Human Rights, the consequences of violence for the LGBTQIA+ population and also on the conservative offensive against the trans population, using the cases of children and adolescents to spread moral panic.
“We need to recognize that the issue of sexual orientation and gender identity affects different moments of our lives. You are not a person, and at 18, suddenly, you become a transvestite. You build this identity throughout your life. people have to recognize this first so that, later, the equipment for children and adolescents can understand these specificities”, he explained.

She also commented on how the struggle of cis women also crosses the agenda of trans women, transvestites and homosexuals.
” We have to understand that public policy is not built, nor social struggle, if we only make a portion of women reach this place. We have to arrive, and this access, this promotion, has to reach everyone “, he concluded.
