UK, Australian and US leaders can visit a US Pacific Fleet submarine.
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will arrive in the United States on March 13, where he will hold talks on the AUKUS trilateral security partnership with US President Joe Biden and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. This was reported by Reuters on Wednesday, March 8.
It is noted that the negotiations will be held in the city of San Diego in California. The meeting will discuss new details of the treaty created in 2021 as part of efforts to counter China in the Indo-Pacific region.
Also during the visit, leaders can visit a US Pacific Fleet submarine.
Recall that under the agreements of the AUKUS military alliance, Australia plans to build eight nuclear submarines with the help of American and British technologies, the first of which will begin to be used in 2036.
The agreement also provides that countries will share cyber intelligence data, artificial intelligence technologies and other technical developments.
For the second time in history, the United States is ready to share top-secret nuclear submarine technology with another state. For the first time, Washington provided an ally country – Great Britain – with nuclear technology in 1958.
The creation of AUKUS irritated France, as Australia canceled an already signed contract with Paris for the supply of submarines in the amount of 56 billion euros.
