The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) positioned itself favorably to the return of Ibaneis Rocha (MDB) to the position of governor of the Federal District, in a statement sent to the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
He was removed from office after the criminal acts committed by Bolsonaristas on January 8, at the headquarters of the Three Powers. At the time, STF Minister Alexandre de Moraes ordered a 90-day removal, considering that Ibaneis had acted intentionally with omission. The decision expires on April 9th.
However, according to the Deputy Attorney General of the Republic Carlos Frederico Santos, coordinator of the Strategic Group to Combat Anti-Democratic Acts of the PGR, who signed the demonstration, the removal requires “just fear of its use for criminal practice”. The requirement, however, would not be present in the case.
“Currently, the requirements of the precautionary measure of removal from public service are not fulfilled, notwithstanding the future analysis regarding the existence or not of evidence for criminal responsibility”, he argues.
More Bolsonaro controversies
The Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Alexandre de Moraes, authorized the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) to take testimony from the former Secretary of Public Security for the Federal District, Anderson Torres. The hearing will take place next Thursday (16), at 10 am, by videoconference.
The also former Minister of Justice will be heard in the context of a process that may make Jair Bolsonaro (PL) ineligible. The former president is being investigated for coup statements made during a meeting with foreign ambassadors, at the Planalto Palace, in July last year.

At the request of the TSE Inspector General, Benedito Gonçalves, Torres will be questioned about his alleged involvement in the meeting with the ambassadors and about the draft of a coup decree found in his residence by the Federal Police.
The document, which was unanimously included in the TSE process, authorized Bolsonaro to declare a state of defense at the TSE headquarters to reverse the result of last year’s presidential election.
