By the end of this year, the construction of the first Eurotrack should be completed
Now a section of the European standard road is being built from the Polish village of Grebennoye to the Ukrainian Rava-Russkaya.
Before the end of the year, Ukraine plans to build the first European track, which will connect Lviv and Warsaw. This will allow launching direct trains between cities, writes ukrayina.pl.
Currently, a section of the European standard railway with a gauge of 1435 mm is being built from the Polish village of Grebennoye to the Ukrainian Rava-Russkaya.
“Until the end of 2023, we will continue this section to Lviv along the wide gauge that already exists. In the future, this will create the possibility of running direct Warsaw-Lviv trains without transfers and without changing the chassis,” said Vladimir Shemaev, director of the international projects office of Ukrzaliznytsia.
This will help relieve road congestion and increase train travel. Over time, it is also planned to build new routes from Krakow to Lvov through the Polish village of Mediki and from Dorohusk via Yagodin to Kovel.
“These sites are the most relevant for us, and we will not delay their construction. We are completing negotiations with international financial organizations regarding funds for these investments,” Shemaev said.
