A 42-year-old Russian serviceman was detained in the Kupyansky district of the Kharkiv region, the National Police of Ukraine reports.
According to her, after the de-occupation, a resident of the Moscow region was hiding in abandoned buildings on the territory of the Kupyansky district. He was detained by officers of a special police battalion while patrolling the village of Kupyansk-Uzlovaya.
When checking, it turned out that he was a serviceman of the 27th motorized rifle brigade of Russia. The detainee said that after the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated the Kupyansky district, he hid in abandoned buildings on the territory of the district. The man was taken to the police station.
In Ukraine, by the beginning of 2023, more than 50 thousand cases were opened under the article on violation of the laws and customs of war. Investigators have identified more than 200 suspects. So far, about 20 people have been convicted, some in absentia.
In early March, a court in Ukraine sentenced Russian pilot Aleksey Loboda to 12 years in prison on charges of violating the laws and customs of war (Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code). According to investigators, in March 2022, the pilot of the Russian Su-34 aircraft received an order to destroy civilian objects in Kharkov and the Kharkov region. His target was a radio and television transmitting station in Kharkov.
Another Russian pilot, Maksim Kryshtop, was also sentenced to 12 years in prison for the bombing of Kharkov. However, he was recently released from custody to be exchanged for Ukrainian prisoners of war.
