Between March 15th and April 30th, all Brazilians and people residing in Brazil who received more than R$ 28,559.70 in 2022 must declare the Income Tax.
That is, regardless of whether the person is a salaried person, retired or an INSS pensioner, if the amount of taxable income has reached this limit determined by the Federal Revenue Service, the person must settle accounts with the lion.
However, if the INSS retiree or pensioner is over 65 years old, the monthly exemption amount is R$ 3,807.96.
In addition, it is important to note that the amount received by the INSS does not enter into the IR taxation, but if he receives extra income, this must be declared.

If the person had annual income in 2022 below the minimum total amount, but at the same time owns assets that add up to more than R$ 300,000, he must also declare the tax. Those who made commercial transactions or sales in excess of R$300,000 and those who profited from rural activities worth more than R$142,000 must also declare.
As for non-taxable income, people who exceed R$ 40,000 must also complete the declaration. It is worth mentioning that this also applies to stock exchange investors who obtained a sum greater than R$ 40,000.
Foreigners residing in Brazil during the year 2022 who reached these income levels are also required to declare their income.
According to information released by the Federal Revenue Service, it is estimated that around 39 million declarations will be delivered within the stipulated period.
Documents
People who work in formal jobs, for example, need to ask their employers for income reports, which bring data on salaries, pensions, retirements, profit distributions and other sources of income.
It is also necessary to seek information on other types of income, such as donations, pensions or inheritances, as well as proof of purchase and sale of real estate and shareholding in companies, if applicable.
In order to obtain the reduction of expenses with health, education, private pension and donations made, taxpayers will need proof of payment for these services.
It is mandatory to present the holder’s RG, CPF and Voter Title, as well as a copy of the last statement sent and bank account details or Pix where the IR refund should take place.
News
This year, the Federal Revenue is making available a pre-filled version of the declaration, which automatically imports updated information about the taxpayer from the system, aiming to facilitate the declaration process and minimize errors. According to the Revenue, the use of pre-filled declaration should reach 25% of taxpayers.
To make the declaration by cell phone or tablet with the pre-filled model, as soon as you start the declaration through the Meu Imposto de Renda app, the taxpayer must choose the “pre-filled” option. If the declaration is made through the program available for computers, the person must select the option “start declaration from the pre-filled one”.
The Revenue said that whoever uses the information provided by the pre-filled declaration will have priority in the IR refund batches. In addition, priority will also be given to those who, at the time of the declaration, choose to receive the refund via Pix, provided that the key is the CPF number.
Restitution
This year the IR refund will take place in five batches distributed between the months of May and September. Priority will be given to seniors over 80, followed by taxpayers over 60. Next come people with disabilities and people with serious illnesses, as well as taxpayers who have their main source of income from teaching.
The lots will be paid on May 31st, June 30th, July 31st, August 31st and the last one will enter on September 29th.
