The Basmanny District Court of Moscow has arrested in absentia the former publisher of Meduza and the founder of the Support Service, Ilya Krasilshchik, in the case of spreading fake news about the Russian army (Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code). This was reported to Present Time in the press service of the court.
The meeting was held behind closed doors in the absence of the Dyer, who currently resides in Berlin. He was represented by lawyers Sergei Badamshin and Anri Tsiskarishvili.
The criminal case against Dyer was opened on April 20, 2022, based on the materials of the Center for Combating Extremism of the Moscow Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
After the appearance of information about the initiation of a case, the Dyer announced his departure from Yandex. “We have been planning my exit from Yandex for a month and a half already. But I think that after today’s news, I should somehow decide on this faster. From today I no longer work for the company (officially, I haven’t really done anything since February). This is my decision, I love and respect everyone,” he wrote on his Telegram channel.
In July 2022, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs put him on the wanted list; in early March this year, he was charged in absentia.
