In Yekaterinburg, the former mayor, opposition politician Yevgeny Roizman was detained.
His lawyer, Vladislav Idamzhapov, told 66.RU that he would be taken to the police department to draw up a protocol on an administrative offense, after which the court would consider his case. It is not yet known which article is imputed to Roizman.
Roizman’s wife, Yulia Kruteeva, said that he was accused of demonstrating extremist symbols. “Someone wrote a denunciation that he posted extremist symbols on VK, apparently, there is a repost from (Aleksey) Navalny. The problem is that Roizman is not registered in VK. He just never went in his life. The repost was made in a group ” Evgeny Roizman, “to which he has nothing to do and does not know who did it. There are about 20 such groups in VK,” she said.
In August 2022, the politician was detained in a criminal case on “discrediting” the Russian army (Part 1 of Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code). According to investigators, the oppositionist used the expressions “invasion of Ukraine” and “war in Ukraine” in the video on his channel. The court chose him a measure of restraint in the form of a ban on certain actions.
The court forbade Roizman to use the Internet and telephone, as well as visit public places:
After Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Roizman was fined 50,000 rubles three times under an administrative article about “discrediting” the Russian army. In addition, Roizman was fined 85,000 rubles in the case of contempt of authority. The reason for the protocol was Roizman’s Instagram stories: he reposted a post with a screenshot of his tweet under the statement of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov about Ukraine and the United States. The screenshot was signed: “Evgeny Roizman vs impudent liars.”
In mid-November, Roizman and four other residents were fined 565,000 rubles under a lawsuit filed by the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Sverdlovsk Region for damages for the work of security forces at a rally in support of Alexei Navalny on January 31, 2021.
Yevgeny Roizman was included in the register of “foreign agents” on November 25.
