A court in Belarus sentenced Marina Zolotova, former editor-in-chief of TUT.by, and Lyudmila Chekina, director of Tut By Media, to long terms of imprisonment. The human rights center “Vesna” writes about this.
Marina Zolotova and Lyudmila Chekina were found guilty under several articles of the Criminal Code, including distribution of materials with public calls to seize state power and incite discord. Chekina was also found guilty of tax evasion. They were each sentenced to 12 years in prison. The case was considered behind closed doors.
