On March 17, the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) granted Lithuania’s request to participate in the case of Ukraine against Russia on the grounds of military aggression and human rights violations. The case will be considered in the Grand Chamber of the ECtHR. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Justice of Lithuania.
Thus, Lithuania entered the case as a third party along with 25 other European countries.
According to Minister of Justice Evelina Dobrovolskaya, the forthcoming decision can serve as a basis for providing legal protection to victims of Russian military aggression.
“Lithuania will use all legal means so that the actions of the aggressor do not go unpunished. Russia must be held responsible for the massacres and injuries of the Ukrainian people, the destruction of houses and other public infrastructure. She will also have to pay for all the damage that she has caused,” she said. .
Recall that more than 20 countries intend to join the case of Ukraine against Russia in the ECtHR
