Ukrainian military repelled Russian attacks in the northern part of Bakhmut
The Russian Federation is trying to conduct offensive operations in the Donetsk region. Bakhmut remains the epicenter of hostilities.
The defense forces on Saturday, March 18, repulsed the attacks of the Russians in the northern part of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. The city still remains the epicenter of hostilities. This was announced by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the evening summary.
The Russians continue to conduct offensive operations in the Limansky, Bakhmutsky, Avdeevsky, Maryinsky and Miners directions.
It is noted that, not having the desired result on the battlefield, the Russian Federation uses terror tactics against the civilian population – shelling cities and villages, as well as critical infrastructure.
During the day, the enemy launched five missile strikes, four of them – on the civilian infrastructure of Zaporozhye. The Russians also carried out 12 air strikes and more than 20 attacks from multiple launch rocket systems. The probability of enemy missile strikes throughout Ukraine remains high.
On Volynsky, Polessky, Seversky and Slobozhansky directions operating environment is stable. The enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, but the formation of offensive groupings has not been detected. At the training grounds of the Republic of Belarus, the training of units of the territorial troops of the armed forces of the Russian Federation continues. During the day, the enemy shelled the areas of the settlements of Aleksandrovka in the Chernihiv region; Kharkivka and Starikovo – Sumy and Krasnaya Zarya, Veterinary, Strelechya, Staritsa, Volchansk and Veliky Burluk in Kharkiv region.
On the Kupyansky and Limansky directions the enemy continues to attempt to break through the defenses of our troops. He conducted unsuccessful offensive operations in the areas of the settlements of Dibrova, Verkhnekamenskoye and Controversial. Carried out artillery shelling in the areas of the settlements of Putnikovo, Krasnoe Pervoe, Dvurechnaya, Gryanikovka, Kupyansk, Krokhmalnoye and Berestovoye of the Kharkov region; Novoselovskoe, Nevskoe and Belogorovka – Luhansk, as well as Spirnoe and Fedorovka in the Donetsk region.
On the Bakhmut direction the enemy does not stop trying to capture the city of Bakhmut. Our defenders repelled enemy attacks in the areas of the settlements of Orekhovo-Vasilyevka, Grigorievka and in the northern part of Bakhmut. Vasyukovka, Zaliznyanskoye, Orekhovo-Vasilyevka, Grigorievka, Bakhmut, Ivanovskoye, Chasov Yar, Kurdyumovka, Ozaryanovka and Northern Donetsk region were subjected to enemy shelling.
On Avdeevsky, Maryinsky and Shakhtyorsky directions the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive operations in the areas of the settlements of Kamenka, Severnoye, Pervomayskoye and Marinka. Kamenka, Lastochkino, Avdeevka, Thin, Georgievka, Nevelskoye, Maryinka, Vuhledar and Velyka Novoselka of the Donetsk region were subjected to enemy shelling.
On Zaporozhye and Kherson directions the enemy is on the defensive. In particular, Olhivske, Krasnoe, Gulyaipole, Malaya Tokmachka, Novodanilivka, Novoandreevka and Kamenskoye of the Zaporozhye region were subjected to shelling. Once again, the city of Kherson was shelled.
The Russian invaders continue to use civilian institutions in the temporarily occupied territory of the Zaporozhye region for their own needs. In particular, the enemy uses the building of a school in one of the settlements of the Pologovsky district as a field hospital with 50 beds. Thus, the occupiers are trying to shorten the period for the return of personnel from among the sanitary losses.
In Rubizhne, Luhansk region, the local occupational so-called authorities are forcing the population to obtain Russian citizenship. Ukrainian passports are not yet taken away from people, however, for employment it is necessary to have a passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation.
During the day, the aircraft of the Defense Forces of Ukraine launched six strikes on the areas where the invaders were concentrated. Also on this day, our defenders shot down an enemy UAV Shahed-136and units of missile troops and artillery hit seven areas of concentration of enemy personnel and military equipment in a day.
Recall that Ukrainian defenders over the past day eliminated 880 Russian invaders and destroyed 14 enemy UAVs, five tanks and seven armored vehicles.
