Ukraine and Turkey announced the extension of the grain agreement for 120 days. Russia disagrees.
Russia agreed to extend the grain deal only for 60 days, not 120. This was stated by the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova. This is reported by the Russian media on Saturday, March 18.
“We see messages from the parties to the grain deal that the deal has been extended for 120 days, we have repeatedly stated – both the Foreign Ministry and Russian representatives to the UN that the Russian side has notified all parties to the deal that it is extending the deal by 60 days. days,” she said.
Zakharova added that all parties were notified of the requirements of the Russian Federation to extend the grain deal for only 60 days, not only verbally, but also in writing.
Recall that today the Minister for the Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov said that the grain deal has been extended for 120 days. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also announced the extension of the agreement for 120 days.
It is worth noting that there are two documents on the grain corridor. One of them was signed by the UN, Turkey and Russia, and the other, a mirror image, by the UN, Turkey and Ukraine.
The grain agreement was concluded in July 2022 and extended for 120 days in November. His term expired March 18. Ukraine was in favor of extending the deal for a year at once and offered to expand its operation to the port of Nikolaev.
