Sergey Naev promised the authorities of the Chernihiv region to help with air defense
Sergei Naev has already appealed to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny with a request to strengthen air defense and artillery reconnaissance in the Chernihiv region.
Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhiy Naev visited the Chernihiv region, where he held a meeting on improving the protection of the population living in the border areas and subjected to artillery and mortar attacks by Russia. This was reported by the command of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Sunday, March 19.
In addition to Naev, the meeting was attended by the commander of the group of troops, Brigadier General Dmitry Krasilnikov, the head of the Chernigov Regional Military District Vyacheslav Chaus, the head of the Chernigov city military administration Dmitry Brizhinsky and other representatives of authorities.
Chaus said that the border area of the Chernihiv region is shelled almost every day and civilians in dozens of settlements suffer from this. There are 665 minors there, so the authorities are trying to convince them to evacuate.
In turn, Naev said that he had already appealed to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny with a request to allocate additional air defense forces and means, as well as to strengthen artillery reconnaissance for the Chernihiv region.
During the meeting, ways were identified to address issues of reducing civilian casualties and counteracting the destruction of private structures and infrastructure.
“We understand that the enemy has not abandoned its intentions to inflict fire damage on civilian targets. Therefore, we need to do everything possible to ensure that the local population, which lives in the border Chernihiv region, is not subjected to enemy shelling. We have identified specific measures that we will further implement,” Naev said.
Recall that this week Sergei Naev visited defensive positions in the Sumy region. There he also held a meeting on the protection of civilians.
