Many countries, many politicians expect some progress from Ukraine this year at the front, Pavel noted.
Ukraine should use the possibility of a counter-offensive on the front this year, since it will be extremely difficult to get help from the allies for a new attempt in the future. This was announced on Sunday, March 19, by President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel in an interview with the Polish edition of Rzeczpospolita.
“Many countries, many politicians expect some progress this year. I think that Ukraine will only have one attempt to launch a big counteroffensive. So if it decides to launch a big counteroffensive and fails, it will be extremely difficult to get funding for the next one,” – said the head of the Czech Republic.
The Czech leader noted that the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine should take place within a few months.
“The window of opportunity is open this year. It will be very difficult to maintain the current level of assistance after next winter,” Pavel stressed.
“War fatigue is not only the depletion of human resources and equipment, the destruction of infrastructure in Ukraine, but also fatigue in the countries that provide assistance,” Pavel added.
A medical volunteer from the Czech Republic received a shrapnel wound due to the shelling of the Russian army in the Donbass.
Czech President Petr Pavel will visit Ukraine in April.
