EU countries increase their defense spending
Expenses should increase by a third. In 2021, 214 billion euros were provided for them.
The EU countries plan to increase their defense spending by 70 billion euros by 2025. This is stated in the annual progress report on the implementation of the Strategic Compass for Security and Defense of the EU.
“EU countries are increasing their defense spending and investment. After the outbreak of the Russian war against Ukraine, all EU countries announced an increase in spending, which is estimated to bring an additional 70 billion euros in 2025,” the report says.
It is noted that spending should increase by a third. In 2021, 214 billion euros were provided for them.
Earlier it was reported that Poland in 2023 will direct 4% of the country’s GDP to strengthen its defense capability.
Recall, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced an increase in defense spending in order to strengthen national defense and counter the threat from Russia and China.
