Tanks K2 Black Panther are considered one of the best in the world
Armored vehicles will go into service with the 16th mechanized division in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, bordering the Kaliningrad region of Russia.
Poland received five K2 Black Panther tanks and 12 K9 Thunder self-propelled artillery mounts. The armored vehicles were delivered to the port of Gdynia. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Poland Mariusz Blaszczak said this, Ukrinform reports on Wednesday, March 22.
“Today, a ship arrived at the port in Gdynia, delivering another Korean K2 tanks and K9 howitzers to Poland. Therefore, we are replenishing our military units with equipment from South Korea, this is the fulfillment of our last year’s contracts,” Blaszczak said.
According to him, South Korean tanks and self-propelled guns will go into service with the 16th mechanized division in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, bordering the Kaliningrad region of Russia.
The Deputy Prime Minister called it no coincidence that the equipment will be sent to this unit, since it is about “creating such a force that will scare away the aggressor.”
“Putin should think twice before he decides to make a bad decision to attack Poland, as the Polish armed forces are getting stronger, they are equipped with modern equipment. This is the practical implementation of the doctrine of deterrence and defense, the doctrine of the North Atlantic Alliance,” Blaszczak said.
Recall that last year Poland signed agreements with South Korea for the purchase of about a thousand K2 tanks, more than 600 K9 self-propelled guns and about 300 K239 self-propelled guns, as well as 48 FA-50 fighters.
In early December last year, Warsaw received the first batch of weapons from Seoul – 10 K2 tanks and 24 K9 self-propelled guns.
