The subways of São Paulo decided, on the night of this Wednesday (22) to carry out a stoppage of the category from 00:00 on Thursday (23). The decision was taken at a meeting held after a court hearing in which Companhia do Metropolitano did not present a proposal. Lines 1-Blue, 2-Green, 3-Red and the monorail of Line 15-Silver are expected to be affected by the stoppage.
The category is mobilized to collect the salary bonus, in compensation for the non-payment of profit sharing in the last three years, and also for hiring personnel through a public tender.
The mobilization also happens in defense of the public subway. Subway workers claim that Governor Tarcísio de Freitas aims to privatize the subway.
According to the São Paulo Metro and Subway Union, the government transfers R$ 6.32 per passenger to ViaQuatro, the company that operates the 4-Yellow line. The fare, however, is R$4.40. “The government pays R$ 1.92 more, using public money to finance the CCR. It is the State favoring the private metro and sabotaging the state metro”, says the entity.
