The First Eastern District Military Court sentenced Igor Orlovsky to three years in a penal colony on charges of inciting extremism (Part 2 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code) and terrorism (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code) for comments on social networks, the human rights project OVD-Info reports. .
Orlovsky was also banned from posting on the Internet for two years. He was taken into custody in the courtroom after the verdict was announced.
The reason for the case under the article on incitement to extremism was the comment in VKontakte “Death to the Russian occupiers! Peace to Ukraine and the whole world!”. The same proceeding included a case under the article on incitement to terrorism. The investigators considered that the comment “Death to the old fascist Vovka Putin” became such an appeal (spelling preserved).
In February of this year, he was charged under articles on “fakes” about the Russian army (part 1 of article 207.3 of the Criminal Code) and the rehabilitation of Nazism (part 2 of article 354.1 of the Criminal Code).
Orlovsky was also charged with an article on the rehabilitation of Nazism (part 2 of article 354.1 of the Criminal Code). The reason for the persecution of the Krasnoyarsk citizen was a comparison of the political courses of Hitler and Stalin. In the comments on VKontakte, the man wrote: “Stalin was the same aggressor as Hitler.” The accusation under this article, as well as under the article about “fakes” about the Russian army (part 1 of article 207.3 of the Criminal Code) – due to comments about the strike on the drama theater in Mariupol, Bucha and the actions of the Russian army as a whole – was presented to the man in February.
