Putin blames US for explosions at Nord Stream

The head of the Kremlin is confident that the explosions on gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea were organized by American intelligence services.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is convinced that US intelligence agencies are behind the explosions on the Nord Stream gas pipelines. He stated this on the air of the Russia-24 TV channel.

Putin referred to the publication of the American journalist Seymour Hersh, who had previously stated that the explosions on the pipelines were allegedly carried out by order of US President Joe Biden.

“An American journalist who has now become notorious in the world conducted such an investigation and came to the conclusion that this explosion on gas pipelines was organized by the US special services. I fully agree with such conclusions,” Putin said in an interview.

Answering the question whether the truth about what really happened on the gas pipelines will ever be known, and whether the incident will be really investigated, he said: “I think it will be difficult to achieve. But someday, probably, it will be revealed that and how it was done.

The head of the Kremlin also said that Russia, after inquiries to the UN related to the discovery of a beacon at the junction of the Nord Stream pipes, received an answer that this item was not dangerous, and Moscow was denied participation in the investigation.

Recall that the Danish Energy Agency invited Nord Stream 2 AG to help raise an unknown object found near the SP-2 gas pipeline at the bottom of the Baltic Sea. According to the latest data, the pipeline operator has already given such consent.

Russia has long insisted that it be included in the investigation of explosions on gas pipelines. But in Denmark they said that such permission would not be given.

On February 8, American investigative journalist Seymour Hersh, in his article, stated that explosive devices under Russian gas pipelines were planted in June 2022 under the cover of exercises by US Navy divers with the support of Norwegian specialists. The decision to carry out the operation was allegedly made by US President Joe Biden. However, the White House categorically denies this.
