During the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL), the three profiles representing the Presidency of the Republic on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram blocked 1,075 user profiles. The information was raised via the Access to Information Law (LAI), by the collective Sejam Sabendo.
According to the Social Communication Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic (Secom), the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) is studying a way to reverse the blockages made by the previous management on the profiles @govbr, @secomvc and @planalto.
The current government also reported that no blockade has been made since Bolsonaro left the presidency of the Republic. In LAI’s response, the names of the blocked profiles were not informed, on the grounds that they are personal information.
The request was registered by Ficam Sabendo after the Comptroller General of the Union (CGU) decided, in response to Lula’s request, to review the secrecy of the Bolsonaro administration, which included unblocking the profiles of people blocked on the government’s institutional social networks.
“The examination of the list of blocked profiles – and not just the motivation for their exclusion –, in this way, may indicate discriminatory patterns in the conduct of public agents, which is why access to this information should not be restricted, based on the protection of personal information”, wrote the body in an opinion commissioned by the Presidency of the Republic.
The blocked profiles cannot interact with the official accounts of the Presidency of the Republic on social networks.
