Challenger-2 tanks from Great Britain and Leopard 2 tanks from Germany are already on the territory of Ukraine. This was reported by the Ministries of Defense of Ukraine and Germany.
The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov said that together with the commander of the air assault troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Maxim Mirgorodsky, “we tested a new replenishment in our armored units.” The minister clarified that we are talking about British Challenger-2 tanks, as well as infantry fighting vehicles: the American Stryker and the German Marder.
In turn, the German Ministry of Defense reportedthat have already delivered 18 Leopard 2 A6 tanks to Ukraine, as well as ammunition and spare parts for them.
Earlier, The Guardian wrote that the Ukrainian military had completed training in the UK to control the Challenger 2 tanks and returned to Ukraine.
The training of the Ukrainian military included instructions on command, control and teamwork as part of the crew, as well as on effective identification and engagement of targets.
Later it became known that Ukraine would receive depleted uranium shells for Challenger 2 tanks. Such shells are highly effective against modern tanks and armored vehicles.
The training of the Ukrainian military to operate the Leopard 2 tanks started simultaneously in Germany and Poland in mid-February. And on February 24, on the anniversary of the start of full-scale Russian aggression, Poland handed over the first four Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine.
