NAPC asks where an employee of the Prosecutor General’s Office gets the money for a new apartment
The Deputy Head of the Department of the Office of the Prosecutor General declared for 2020 an apartment in one of the new buildings in Kyiv, which she purchased for UAH 1,866,400 allegedly for donated money.
The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) followed the lifestyle of one of the leaders in the Office of the Prosecutor General. This was reported by the press service of the NAPC.
“The deputy head of the department of the Office of the Prosecutor General declared for 2020 an apartment in one of the new buildings in Kyiv, which she purchased for UAH 1,866,400. On the day the apartment was purchased, the declarant received UAH 1.9 million as a gift from her mother, about which she filed a notice of significant changes in property condition. The official explained that she actually received the funds, without any bank transfers,” the statement said.
The official’s mother said that “the source of the donated funds was the income that they received together with her husband from the sale of common property.”
The NAPC found that the joint expenses of the mother and father of the employee of the prosecutor’s office amounted to more than UAH 3.5 million, which significantly exceeded the official income they received for 1998-2020 (about UAH 1.7 million).
“That is, they did not have savings for a daughter’s gift in the amount of UAH 1.9 million,” the NAPC said in a statement.
It is reported that the official income of the declarant herself was also not enough to purchase an apartment.
“NACP sent materials to the SAPO to resolve the issue of filing a lawsuit with a court to recognize the asset as unfounded and collect it to the state’s income,” the report says.
