The Efremov Interdistrict Court of the Tula Region sentenced Aleksey Moskalev to two years in a penal colony in the case of “discrediting” the Russian army because of anti-war publications in Odnoklassniki, Mediazona reports.
During the announcement of the verdict, Moskalev was not present in the courtroom. The court also ruled that Moskalev’s daughter would be placed in the care of social services.
According to court spokeswoman Olga Dyachuk, the defendant was not present in the courtroom, as on the night of March 28 he escaped from house arrest.
A few hours before the verdict was announced, Moskalev’s daughter, who is now being held in a shelter, gave the defendant’s lawyer drawings and a letter for her father, which ends with the phrase: “Dad, you are my hero.”
Moskalev was detained on December 30, 2022 in the case of repeated “discrediting” of the Russian army (Part 1 of Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code of Russia) after a search in his apartment. The security forces, according to politician Marina Litvinovich, allegedly seized all the money that was in his house. The man was then taken away for interrogation, where he was beaten.
In April last year, Moskalev’s daughter Masha drew a woman at an art lesson at school, who stood at the flag of Ukraine and blocked the child from missiles that fly from the Russian Federation. The principal of the school called the police: the next day, the girl was taken out of class and taken to the department together with her father and the guardianship service.
On March 2, a court in the city of Efremov, Tula Region, placed Moskalev under house arrest until March 27. His daughter was placed in a social rehabilitation center for minors on March 1.
