In Ukraine, the first three strike companies of drones have been formed and are ready for battle, said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation of the country Mikhail Fedorov.
According to him, all drones are Ukrainian-made. They are equipped with pickup trucks and terminals for Starlink satellite internet. Equipment for the strike company of drones was purchased by private donors.
“The drones will carry out reconnaissance and strike missions. They will direct artillery, help military personnel be as effective as possible during urban battles and save lives. Pickup trucks will be needed for raids by mobile groups behind enemy lines, delivery of cargo and evacuation of the wounded,” he added.
The Ukrainian authorities have previously approved the creation of drone strike companies as part of the Army of Drones project. On January 30, the Ministry of Defense announced the signing of contracts with 16 Ukrainian drone manufacturers. For these purposes, this year it is planned to allocate 20 million hryvnia (over $537,000).
“Drones, Starlink, smart munitions make it possible to change position on the battlefield.” How technology helps the Armed Forces of Ukraine win:
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said on March 20 that $300 million had been raised on the Ukrainian state platform for collecting donations for the country United24. This money, among other things, will be used to create a fleet of Ukrainian-made marine drones.
Commander of the Ukrainian Navy Oleksiy Neizhpapa said that naval drones can participate in long-range reconnaissance, monitoring coastal activity, escorting merchant ships, correcting missile strikes and artillery, protecting Ukrainian bases and countering amphibious operations. “Such marine drones have already proven their effectiveness and can significantly change the situation in the Black Sea,” he said.
