Zelensky took part in events dedicated to the anniversary of the liberation of Trostyanets
At the events dedicated to the anniversary of the de-occupation of the city, the names of the officially established military and civilians who died during the liberation of Trostyanets were announced.
While on a working visit to the Sumy region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy took part in events on the occasion of the anniversary of the liberation of Trostyanets from Russian invaders and presented awards. This was reported by the press service of the President of Ukraine.
One of these days, Ukraine will celebrate the anniversary of the liberation of the cities and villages of the Sumy, Chernihiv and Kyiv regions from Russian invaders, and Zelensky stressed that these dates are not only about the events that have become pages of the heroic history of communities, but above all about the character of Ukrainians who will win this war.
“The Ukrainian character is the character of people who do not perceive aggression, do not give up their own. This is the character of freedom, which is felt from birth and is not forgotten until the last breath, until the end of life. This is the character of courage, which allows you to kill even such an enemy that the whole world was afraid of. The Ukrainian character manifested itself in full measure when Russia went to a total war against all of us, against the state of Ukraine, against our people, our freedom,” the president said.
The names of the officially established military and civilians who died during the liberation of Trostyanets were announced, the rally participants honored the memory of the dead with a minute of silence.
The President also presented state awards to the defenders of the city, employees of the Security Service, soldiers of the National Guard, the National Police, the State Border Guard Service, and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
Zelenskiy also presented awards to four civilians, two of them posthumously.
During the visit, the President got acquainted with the projects for the restoration of the Trostyanets railway station and the station square.
Earlier it was reported that Zelensky arrived on a visit to Akhtyrka.
And yesterday, March 27, Zelensky visited the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Zaporozhye region, examined the damaged houses in Zaporozhye and held talks with the head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi.
