President Volodymyr Zelensky visited a section of the state border with the aggressor country Russia during a working trip to the Sumy region. The head of state got acquainted with the organization of service by border guards and their control at checkpoints. He heard a report on the order of defense and protection of the border of Ukraine within the area of responsibility of the Sumy border detachment. Also on March 28, Zelensky visited the cities of Akhtyrka and Trostyanets in the Sumy region. Both cities fought a heroic defense against the Russian invaders in the spring of 2022.
Russia attacked Ukraine with kamikaze drones, almost all of them were shot down
On the night of March 28, the Russian army launched 15 Shahed-type attack drones in Ukraine, Ukrainian defenders destroyed 14 of them. This was announced by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It was also reported about the arrival in Kyiv, as a result of which a fire broke out, however, the KGVA clarified that the fire broke out due to falling debris. They also noted that 12 enemy Shahed drones were detected and destroyed in the airspace around Kyiv.

Power outages in eight regions – Ukrenergo
In eight regions of Ukraine on Tuesday there were blackouts due to difficult weather conditions. “Today, as a result of bad weather (storm wind, snow with rain) and damage in the networks of distribution system operators (DSOs), there are significant blackouts of consumers in eight regions in the west and south of Ukraine (Volynska, Lvivska, Zakarpattska, Rivne, Khmelnytsky, Ternopil, Chernivtsi and Odessa region). Repair teams are working to repair the damage and restore power supply,” Ukrenergo said in a statement.
Number of battles decreased in Bakhmut area – APU
In the Bakhmut direction, the number of battles has decreased. Perhaps this is due to the regrouping of Russian troops. This was announced on March 28 by the representative of the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhiy Cherevaty. In the evening, the General Staff reported that the enemy continued assault operations in the Bakhmut direction, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine courageously hold the city, repel numerous enemy attacks.
The EU called the terms of negotiations on Ukraine’s membership
The heads of the EU countries may discuss the prospect of starting negotiations on the entry of Ukraine and Moldova into the European community at the winter summit in December. This was stated by the President of the European Council Charles Michel. He recalled that soon the European Commission should publish a report on the progress of Ukraine and Moldova on the path to European integration. And after receiving the results, it will become clear when negotiations on the accession of these two candidate countries to the EU can begin.
