As reported by the newspaper The State of S. Paulo, the Bolsonaro government tried to bring this second set of jewels in October 2021 from Saudi Arabia, through an advisor to the then Minister of Mines and Energy, Bento Albuquerque. MPE asks for the impeachment of Renan Filho and governor of Alagoas
The Regional Electoral Attorney’s Office in Alagoas requested the impeachment of Senator Renan Filho, current Minister of Transport, and State Governor Paulo Dantas, both from the MDB, on Wednesday (29).
In the document, the Public Ministry argues that Renan Filho misused the public machine during the 2022 election, by distributing basic food baskets through the state government program Pacto Contra a Fome. The practice can configure abuse of political and economic power and culminate in ineligibility and the imposition of a fine, in addition to impeachment.
In the same line, the Attorney’s Office also accuses Paulo Dantas and his deputy, Ronaldo Lessa (PDT), of also having been electorally benefited through the program.

According to the document, Renan Filho “was a direct beneficiary of the conduct, having agreed with them, actively participating in the dissemination of the assistance program for basic food baskets in an election year and using it as a campaign platform”.
“Factors such as the date on which it was launched (about two months before the electoral campaign), the repeated mention of the program in interviews, reports, electoral programs and social networks, and the size of the resources involved without plausible justification, give the Pact against Hunger is an eminently electoral purpose”, argued the regional electoral attorney Antonio Henrique de Amorim Cadete.
“The elements contained in the case file demonstrate a manifest deviation from the purpose resulting from the use of the social program in favor of the candidacy of the investigated Paulo Dantas and Renan Filho, in addition to compromising the legitimacy and fairness of the elections with the necessary seriousness, denoting the practice of abuse of power.”

In a statement to the new judge responsible for the Lava Jato operation, Eduardo Appio, from the 13th Criminal Court of Curitiba, Duran said he had paid US$613,000 to lawyers linked to Rosangela Moro (Podemos-SP), which would be a portion of a total of US$5 million of dollars required to close a plea deal with the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office. By not fulfilling the rest of the installments, Taclan Duran said that he had his preventive arrest decreed by Moro.

TCU annuls lawsuit against Esther Dweck and Nelson Barbosa for tax pedaling
The Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) decided to annul the accusations against the Minister of Management and Innovation Esther Dweck and the director of BNDES Nelson Barbosa for the tax pedaling that culminated in the impeachment of former President Dilma Rousseff (PT). Minister Antonio Anastasia understood that there was intercurrent prescription, which, according to TCU regulations, occurs when the process is paralyzed for at least three years.
Previously, the Federal Public Ministry (MPF) had requested the conviction of both with ineligibility for public office for five years. If the allegations were accepted, Dweck and Barbosa would have to be removed from their current positions.

During the discussions, Senator Fabiano Contarato (PT-ES) pointed out that the STF has already decided that no one can be considered guilty until the process is analyzed by all instances of Justice.
“I even understand that shielding crimes seeks public morality. But we also have to understand that one of the requirements of the CCJ is to analyze constitutionality. even the final judgment of the criminal sentence would condemn. Whether they wanted it or not, that was the decision”, said Contarato at the time.
