The Ministry of Health explained what will change in the sale of medicines from April 1
The only change is that prescription drugs used to be dispensed with a paper prescription, but now electronic prescriptions will also be used.
Pharmacies will be able to sell prescription drugs without a prescription until the end of martial law: they can be bought with both paper and electronic prescriptions. This was announced by the Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko.
Lyashko recalled that the relevant resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 542 was adopted on May 7, 2022 and is valid until the day of termination or cancellation of martial law.
“In fact, the only change is that earlier this medicine was dispensed according to a paper prescription, and now an electronic prescription will be used, which is much more convenient for everyone – the doctor, the patient, and the pharmacist,” the head of the Ministry of Health explained.
The Minister stressed that electronic prescriptions will be used to sell those medicines that previously belonged to the prescription category.
“You could see this in their instructions for use, where the category of dispensing was indicated by prescription. In fact, the only change is that before the dispensing of this medicine was based on a paper prescription, and now an electronic prescription will be used, which is much more convenient for everyone – and the doctor, and the patient, and the pharmacist.During the transition period, which will be exactly valid at least until the end of martial law, it is possible to use both versions of the prescription. The patient himself can choose which prescription is more convenient for him to buy medicines in the pharmacy – electronic or paper,” Lyashko notes.
The minister stressed that control over the circulation of prescription drugs is very important.
“Their use should be accompanied by careful medical supervision as it involves an increased risk of serious side effects, a complex route of administration (such as injections), or may be addictive or at risk of abuse. I’m sure doctors will confirm how catastrophic the consequences of self-medication are and how many visits It is fixed precisely for this reason. The medicine is not sweets, but serious active substances that, without proper medical supervision, can harm human life and health,” Lyashko added.

Earlier it was reported about the hype in pharmacies.
